Welcome to your soft landing—I am so happy you’re here.
Struggling with your mental health can feel overwhelming, isolating, and hopeless at times. You may feel misunderstood by others or have a hard time understanding yourself. Heck, you might have even tried therapy in the past, but didn’t feel much change or improvement.
In my practice, I work with people who are feeling stuck, lost, and seeking relief from the emotional pain, depression, and anxiety they are experiencing. I specialize in helping people who grew up in difficult living situations (often not realizing it until adulthood) that entailed emotional neglect, strained relationships with parents/caregivers, and/or chronic feelings of loneliness, sadness, or stress.
Whatever brought you here, it is no longer yours to carry alone.
Your Tennessee Trauma Therapist
Jordan Sanders, LPC, MHSP, EdS
I earned my B.A. in English in 2013 and spent a few years teaching elementary school in Spain before feeling called to pursue deeper healing work — both personally and professionally. That path led me to earn an Education Specialist degree (a fancier Master’s) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022.
I'm a lifelong student who is constantly seeking to learn and grow. My philosophy on life is that every human being has value and is worthy simply because they’re a person. I believe we are not doomed to a life of repeating the patterns that cause us pain and distress. I found my calling as a therapist through feeling the power of internal change from my own therapeutic work, and I have seen it happen over and over again with my clients. You are capable of meaningful, positive change, and with work, it will come.
Outside of the therapy room, you can find me hanging with my wife and pets (that’s Sunny in the picture with me!), pondering the existential questions of life, singing karaoke, wandering in nature, or drinking an absurd amount of delicious coffee.

Trauma Therapy Tailored to Your Healing Journey
Nothing matters more to me in the therapy process than helping you feel safe.
Real healing begins when safety, consistency, and trust are present — this will be a focus in our work together.
I’m here to meet you exactly where you are and support you in discovering what safety can feel like in your body. At the same time, I believe growth happens just beyond your comfort zone.
I strive to create a space where the safety we build together empowers you to explore your internal world, take healthy risks, and reclaim a sense of agency in your life.

My trauma-informed approach supports a thoughtful, compassionate inquiry into identifying and healing distressing patterns, triggers, and memories. I will respect the pace you prefer to move, embolden you with choices at every step of the process, and utilize my knowledge of trauma to help you better understand the differences between you and the trauma responses that can feel like you.

EMDR is a structured trauma-processing therapy that helps you process and heal from distressing memories by using bilateral stimulation, like eye movements or tapping. It allows your brain to reprocess and integrate stuck or overwhelming experiences so they no longer feel as emotionally charged.
-
Brainspotting is a powerful processing therapy that uses eye position to access, process, and release trauma, emotional pain, and stuck experiences stored in the body. It taps into the body’s natural ability to heal itself by surfacing deeply stored memories and emotions that are causing either conscious or unconscious emotional disturbance. By focusing on a specific point in your visual field, we can locate where unprocessed experiences are held in the brain/body and facilitate transformational healing.

IFS is a gentle, empowering therapy that helps you make sense of the conflicting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors happening for you. In IFS, instead of judging or fighting these inner experiences, we approach them with curiosity and compassion. The philosophy behind IFS is that there are no “bad parts” of us, only parts trying their best to protect you. By tuning into both your emotions and body sensations, we can connect with these parts, understand their intentions, and “update” them so they no longer rely on old protective strategies that are causing you issues in the present.
-
Mindfulness is the practice of focusing on your present-moment experience with intentionality, curiosity, and a nonjudgmental attitude. In therapy, I use mindfulness to help you slow down and build conscious awareness of your emotional experience and the narratives tied to these emotions. This heightened awareness can allow for more acceptance of what is in order to more thoughtfully choose what can be.

Areas of Expertise
-
My training and ongoing focus is centered on supporting people who’ve experienced trauma in childhood. Many of the clients I work with have survived experiences like emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, neglect, bullying, chaotic or unsafe home environments, or being raised by caregivers struggling with addiction or mental illness. Together, we’ll work to uncover, name, and heal these early wounds and focus on creating a healthy attachment between you and your inner-child parts.
-
A single traumatic event — like a car accident, sexual assault, or a near death experience — or ongoing trauma such as childhood abuse, emotional neglect, or relationship violence can cause lasting physical, emotional, mental, and relational distress if left unresolved. I’m here to support you in gently restoring — or discovering for the first time — a sense of safety, emotional steadiness, and connection within yourself and with others.
-
In the U.S., we’re often taught that nothing is more important than family. But if you grew up with a family that had poor boundaries, normalized abuse, set unrealistic expectations, or where you had to take on adult responsibilities too soon, “family” may feel more painful than comforting. I approach understanding family dynamics without judgment, helping you validate your experiences, release misplaced guilt or responsibility, set healthier boundaries, and use your voice in a way that aligns with your values.
-
Spiritual or religious harm can leave deep psychological wounds, especially when the very community you once trusted becomes a source of confusion, pain, or betrayal. You may now find yourself questioning what you believe, trying to separate your spirituality from the harm you've experienced—or feeling the need to step away from it entirely. Whatever path you’re on, I offer a compassionate space to deconstruct, process, and heal. Together, we’ll explore what feels true and meaningful to you now, and help you reclaim a sense of agency and peace within your life.
